Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.

Music Is My Inspiration ContestWell guys I've decided to start my own contest, because I had awesome feedback on the idea ^_^

Mood: Tired

I was able to come only because we were taking money from our backup source, but since we had a talk about the subject and all, well it is better for us not to come.
At least it will give us a 400$ back. (it will stay at this point unless we have a miracle coming our way and that we can go, but I don't think financially it will be possible)

We made a decision more intelligent then what I had in mind. So we actually find out that we will have more money if my fiancée goes to school and comes back with a job. (that's why we actually need money, for her school)
Will probably moved from here to a smaller place and cheaper too.

I, for myself, don't really have any idea what to do so I'll go around and try to find something else just for now.

I might go to otakuthon as Halloween still, but not sure where I will be at that time. Halloween was cut to the girl with the cape since the pumpkin head was driving me nuts and was complex. I needed to buy more foam since I did many mistakes.

I won't stop doing photography as, later on in my life, it will become a side work, but it is not something I will do for a living unfortunately. It is not possible unless I win the lotto. At least I will have

to show me what I need to know and might not need to go to school yet.

To finish this update, I really don't know what to do to gain money. I ask if people wanted to commission me for: craft/props and drawings/posters.
I had no answer back. Wanted to sell my KH props, got nothing out of it.
The only solution I have is (emploi-québec). It's a government help for workers without a job atm.

I hope for the best, but at the moment I need to deal with all of this and find a job! I have until the end of july to find something or I'll be out of money.

AN does cost a lot. AN 2010 is my most expensive AN ever, with transport alone at $150, hotel at $120, new costume at $150, plus weekend badge at $40, Moonlight Ball ticket at $35, zoom lens rental at $30, $50 for food and an arbitrary amount for Artists/Dealers purchases: it adds up to well over $600...

It costs me on average $1 per kilometer per convention, with a minimum of $100 for cons at 100 km or less and a max of $1,500 for cons at 1,500 km or more. G-Anime costs about $150-300, and Toronto cons cost about $400-500. Having never been beyond 500 km for a con, all my spendings have been within this average of $1/km (with a min. of $100).

But really, you gotta do what you gotta do and I fully understand it (As a student, I fully understand the money problems, the only reason why I can even afford to go to AN is because I've been saving for ages...)

It sucks leisure wise but at least you and your fiancée are making a smart decision.

At least there's Otakuthon (I really wan to see you guys there!) and I surely hope we'll get to see each other at other events like photoshoots and stuff!
